Impact 48 Weekend - Edinburgh Cyrenians

I took part in the lastest Impact 48 weekend, Impact48 weekends bring together a charity (with an opportunity or problem but lacking resources), a sponsor (with the resources and desire to have positive impact) and a team of volunteers (with the skills and energy to create something with impact in 48 hours).

The charity in question was Edinburgh Cyrenians, who have an outstanding track record in pioneering creative solutions to the contemporary problems faced by people on the margins of society, such as; homelessness, poverty, unemployment, isolation and recovery from addiction.

An Impact48 weekend is all about creating something that is complete and real; something the charity can take advantage of immediately. A number of projects were worked on, but I focused on the design aspects of their proposed Give In Kind initiative, essentially a charity recycling platform that will allow people to donate unwanted goods to worth causes. In order to give the developers as much time as possible, I was able to work up a brand, iconography and full website design in a (long!) day. The charity desired a standalone brand that still fitted with their existing main brand and they were absolutely delighted with the result.

I throughly recommend taking part in these events; great fun and very rewarding!
